A few other MMOs have the idea of map contribution, meaning you have to contribute a lot to an event/meta event before you begin earning the better rewards out of it. And the very best rewards are only handed out to people who reach very high levels of contribution/participation in the occasion. I think that
Maplestory Mesos a similar system for elite boss rewards could remove a large part of the toxicity and camping that encircles elite boss searching.
Simply speaking, you can only obtain contribution if you are in the map degree range. And for mobs under level 200, if you are more than 5 degrees over the mob you get decreased participation. Right now I imagine contribution like a mix of killing mobs in the map to help provoke the elite boss, and also damage dealt to the elite supervisor. In this way, players that elite search can still get a very small bit of map contribution, but the players that actually put in the work to spawn the elite will get the better rewards.
In case you have 0 map contribution once the elite boss is murdered you are ineligible to receive one of the rare reward chests. If you only have low participation, then you are able to receive a new version of the torso which only a small subset of those prizes. Probably something like no CSS without a epic bud scrolls IDK. If you have high contribution you earn the routine, purple infrequent reward chests. And the more you have, the more chests you earn.
What I mean is you would need to be in the map knowingly killing mobs, for several minutes before you start earning contribution. This combats those KSers who wait till a map is dark and then take all the kills to spawn it. They shouldn't be getting anywhere near the exact same contribution as the players who really put in the job to subdue the supervisor. This prevents people from going in, killing several hundred/thousand of mobs to become high participation and then only camping at the map afk onto a platform protected from the elite boss and gaining lots of rewards for doing nothing.
I know that some will probably be against this since they search elites to gain maplestory two mesos. But that mindset is so toxic to the match. Individuals should earn rewards through actually playing
Maplestory items, not channel surfing and KSing someone's map when its about to spawn a elite. That is just so unbelievably poisonous, and this could go a long way towards eliminating that mindset. If implemented correctly they could even produce the reward chests better because people would really be earning them.
